Greenwich first responders received a report at 1:15 p.m. on Friday that a massive tree fell on a man on Benjamin Street in Old Greenwich. The man is a Milford plumbing contractor and he was about to get into his vehicle when the tree toppled and landed on him.

When they arrived, Greenwich firefighters pulled the man out from under a large tree. Greenwich Emergency Medical Service paramedics gave him medical treatment at the scene.

An ambulance transported him to Stamford Hospital to be treated for serious injuries. Police said he was alert and responsive but his prognosis is unclear.
