Police Arrest 2 After Finding Heroin in New London Home

Police arrested two people on charges of operating a drug factory after finding heroin, crack cocaine and marijuana in their New London apartment, police said.

Jevon Walker, 39, and Maurice Walker, 38, of 48 Granite Street, Apartment 6, New London, are facing multiple drug charges after state and New London police went to serve Walker an arrest warrant and found heroin in plain sight in the living room, police said.

Officers found Maurice Walker hiding in a bedroom closet and spotted a bag of marijuana sitting on top of a closet shelf, police said. They also found 820 bags of heroin in a tobacco bag on the closet floor near where walker was hiding, according to police.

Police searched the apartment on a warrant and seized 820 heroin bags, a gram of crack cocaine, 23 grams of marijuana and $2,123 in cash. A statewide narcotics task force also responded and helped with the investigation.

Both Jevon and Maurice Walker were charged with operation of a drug factory, possession with intent to sell, distribution of controlled substances within 1,500 feet of a school and illegal possession of narcotics. They were held in police custody pending a Monday appearance in New London Superior Court.

Jevon Walker was also charged with possession of less than a half ounce of cannabis and Maurice walker was charged with possession of a controlled substance: a hallucinogenic substance or four ounces of marijuana, police said.
