Police Arrest Car Theft Suspect

West Hartford police have arrested a local man in connection with several car burglaries in Newington and are looking into whether he is involved in car thefts and break-ins in West Hartford as well.

Police said Cody Benjamin Farley, 18, of West Hartford, was seen on New Park Ave 3:30 p.m. on Monday in a Toyota Avalon that was stolen from Newington. The vehicle was tied to a rash of car burglaries in their town, police said.

West Hartford police are investigating three car thefts and break-ins of 27 unlocked vehicles and have arrested one suspect

Farley was charged with larceny I the third degree, conspiracy to commit larceny in the third degree, criminal trover in the first degree, interfering with an officer and possession of burglary tools.

Farley was unable to post a $10,000 surety bond. If he does post bond, he will appear in Hartford Superior Court on Dec. 23.

State police also charged Farley with leaving the scene of a crash earlier in the day, according to West Hartford Police.

Bloomfield police are also investigating several car burglaries there on Nov. 19.
