Police Arrest Suspected Manchester Heroin, “Molly” Dealer in Sting

Police arrested a suspected drug dealer in a narcotics sting, serving five warrants and charging him further when they found heroin at his home in Manchester, police said.

East Central Narcotics Task Force and Manchester police arranged a drug buy near 443 Hartford Road in Manchester to catch suspected drug dealer Leequan "Quan" Benford, 27, of 105 Bridge St., Manchester, in the act, according to police. The operation happened at about 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

The task force already had five warrants out for Benford's arrest on charges of the sale and possession of heroin, police said. He was also suspected of selling MDMA, known on the street as "Molly," which is short for molecular, in "pure crystalline powder form." The warrants were obtained through previous operations when Benford sold both drugs to an undercover officer, police said.

Police and the task force also searched his Bridge Street home, seizing drug paraphernalia and 13 bags of heroin.

Manchester police charged Benford with sale of narcotics and possession of narcotics in each of the five warrants as well as identical charges for the seized heroin, police said.

The task force works to stomp out drug trafficking in Manchester, Vernon, South Windsor and Glastonbury.

Police ask anyone with information on drug activity in those towns to call the task force at 860-645-5548. Calls will remain confidential.
