Police Arrest Second Suspect in Graffiti Spree

Last month, police arrested a 25-year-old West Haven man suspected in a multicity graffiti spree and say more arrests were expected.

Police have since made another arrest.

West Haven police arrested Matthew Cashman, 22, of Wallingford, on two warrants and again on Monday for eight warrants.

Police said they believe he is responsible for the "Watch" graffiti found throughout the state, including in West Haven.

Cashman was arrested a year ago in North Haven, accused of tagging AME, according to West Haven police.

Police said Cashman changed his tag name to “Watch,” since his arrest in North Haven.

Police in New Haven have charged him in connection with similar types of vandalism, as have Wallingford police. Cashman is accused of destroying an unfinished hotel off exit 15 on 91 in Wallingford.

He was arrested on eight warrants that included 12 charges: three counts of first-degree criminal mischief, three counts of second-degree criminal mischief, two counts of third-degree criminal mischief and four counts of second-degree criminal trespass.

Police said Cashman is associated with Christopher Loso, 25, of West Haven, who is suspected of causing tens of thousands of dollars in damage to buildings, bridge abutments, highway underpasses, railroad cars and facilities throughout West Haven and as far away as Boston and New York.

Loso is due in court on March 19, according to court records.
