More than 40 cars were towed away from Hartford school parking lots on Wednesday morning because residents who parked there during the blizzard did not move them in time.
The city of Hartford enacted a parking ban during the blizzard on Monday night into Tuesday, but Hartford Mayor Pedro Segarra lifted the ban at 8 p.m .on Tuesday and asked residents to move their cars by 8 a.m. on Wednesday morning and . School is closed today to accommodate the cleanup.
Around 8:30 a.m., police put out another call, asking Hartford residents to remove their cars as soon as possible so crews can clear the snow and get the schools ready for students to return .
Then, officials from the school board requested car still in the lots be towed. as of noon on Wednesday, 42 cars had been towed.
Mayor Segarra said snow removal in the city will continue over the next couple of days and he urged anyone with questions about the parking ban or vehicle retrieval to call Hartford Police at: (860)757-4000.
