Reports of a break-in led Torrington police to what they said is an indoor pot farm.

The Register Citizen reports the marijuana was found Friday growing in a small warehouse at 16 East Pearl St. Officers also found 21 red plastic cups containing small green-leafed plants, five pounds of dried marijuana, a grow-light, a laptop computer and $500 cash.

Kevin Cote, a 47-year-old unemployed carpenter, was arrested after authorities found marijuana in the warehouse and in his 2002 Chevy pick-up truck.

According to the newspaper, while in custody Cote told police “‘It’s not like I’m giving it to school kids.”

He faces charges of possession of marijuana over four ounces, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana in a school zone, cultivation of marijuana, possession of over a kilo of marijuana with intent to sell and operation of a drug factory.
