A woman is in critical condition after being struck by a car in Vernon Saturday morning.
Police said the crash happened in the crosswalk at Hillside Avenue and Hartford Turnpike on the Vernon Rails to Trails Crossing, in front of the Sacred Heart Church.
The victim, who has not been publicly identified, was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
The Hartford Turnpike was closed in the area for several hours.
The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with police. The car was being used as part of a taxi/livery car service, according to police.
