Police Make Arrest in Bridgeport Shooting



    Police have made in arrest in a serious shooting that happened near the corner of Beechwood Avenue and Norman Street around 11:30 a.m. on Thursday.

    Police identified the man shot as William Merrero, 29, of Bridgeport. They have not released the name of the suspected shooter.

    Detectives recovered a handgun and are running ballistics tests to confirm it was the weapon used in the shooting.

    Police said Merrero appeared to have been shot multiple times in the head and chest, but is expected to survive.

    He was in critical but stable condition at an area hospital as of Thursday.
