Wallingford police say they've spoken to a mother, who they say took off with her 6-month-old daughter.

Christine Cook, 40, is accused of taking her daughter, Jospephine, from a home on Hanover Street in Wallingford around 10:42 a.m. on Saturday .

Wallingford police say she called them early Sunday morning. Both she and the baby are safe and are believed to be staying at a shelter.

Cook has told police that she doesn't want to come home.

Family members were concerned because Cook had made statements that she "wish she never had the child," said police.

Cook apparently suffers from mental health issues.
