Greenwich police are investigating a hit-and-run that killed a 21-year-old Middlebury woman Saturday morning.

The 21-year-old student, identified as Meghan Beebe, was struck around 2 a.m. in the William Street parking lot. Police said the driver stopped briefly, then fled scene in a red sedan.

Police have arrested Vyacheslav Cherepov, a 26-year-old Ridgefield, man who is being held on a $500,000 court-set bond.

After the crash, police said the car involved in the crash was burgundy or dark red and likely a Pontiac G6 Model Year 2005-2010 with Connecticut license plates and tinted windows.

The suspect was described as a male with short brown buzzed cut hair and tan with brown eyes, wearing a long sleeved shirt with a gold chain and cross.

Police found Cherepov's red 2006 Pontiac G6 in the Williams Street parking lot today. He works at a local restaurant and police said they developed probable cause to arrest him.

Cherepov was charged with evading a crash in which there was a serious physical injury.  He is being held on a $500,000 court-set bond.
