Police Identify Victim of Fatal Pedestrian Accident

Police have identified the  pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle Friday evening on Route 83 in the area of  205 Talcottville Road in Vernon. 

According to authorities, 20-year-old Joshua Jarrell, of Vernon, was struck and killed by a BMW SUV traveling south on Route 83.

Police said they received a call from the driver who struck Jarrell at 7:39 p.m. The driver of the vehicle was not hurt and stayed at the scene until police arrived.

Jarrell was rushed to Rockville General Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Investigators say it does not appear that alcohol was a factor for the driver.

Vernon police are still investigating with assistance from the Metro Traffic Services Regional Accident Reconstruction team.
