Police are investigating what they believe is a homicide in Norwalk and have blocked off the area between Nathaniel Ely Elementary school in Norwalk and an apartment complex.
Police are waiting for the medical examiner to arrive before determining the cause of death and removing the body.
A custodian at the school told News 12 that he was one of the first people to see the body, which appeared to be an adult male, who was lying face down, his head covered in blood.
Parents who were dropping off their preschoolers on Wednesday morning were startled by the news when they got here.
Some even took the children home with them.
A resident of the apartments behind the school said several neighbors reported hearing gun shots on Tuesday night, but apparently did not report them to police because they're such a common occurrence.
