Police Identify Homicide Victim from Sigourney Street Shooting in Hartford

Police have identified the victim from a shooting on Sigourney Street in Hartford Tuesday night, the ninth homicide Hartford this year.

Deon Palmer, 18, of Hartford, was shot twice, once in the torso and also in his thigh, according to Hartford Deputy Police Chief Brian Foley.

Hartford police responded to 362 Sigourney Street at 11:27 p.m. on Tuesday after receiving numerous 911 calls reporting that someone was shot, police said. The first officer on scene found Palmer unresponsive with two gunshot wounds.

An ambulance transported Palmer to Saint Francis Hospital to be treated for life-threatening injuries and he later died in the hospital at 2:36 a.m. on Wednesday.
