Possible Pot-Laced Lollipop Sickens Enfield Student

Enfield police are investigating a report of a cannabis-laced lollipop incident at Enfield High School.

The school resource officer became aware of an incident involving a female student going to the hospital.

Detectives investigated the incident. Enfield Police Chief Carl Sferrazza said that another female student confessed to officers that she obtained "marijuana-laced lollipops from California and distributed them to certain people in the school but not to the victim."

Chris Drezek, deputy superintendent of Enfield Public Schools, said that a student went to the nurse's office and that the school nurse, without knowing what was wrong with the student, treated the situation as an allergic reaction. Then the girl went to the hospital.

The department has not released the identities of the victim or suspect. Police have referred the suspect to juvenile court on pending drug-related charges.

The case remains under investigation.
