Police are investigating a shooting on Lilac Street in New Haven.

A 17-year-old was shot around 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday and then ran into Lincoln-Bassett School looking for help, according to police.

A few houses on the street of triple-deckers were cordoned off with police tape.

Investigators believe the teen may have accidentally shot himself in the groin.  He was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
