Suspicious Death Ruled Suicide in Bristol

The suspicious death that prompted a police investigation at two scenes in Bristol on Wednesday night has been ruled a suicide, according to a spokesperson for the police department.

Bristol police and State Police Major Crimes detectives blocked off the entrance to Seymour Park on Shrub Road and turned their attention to a dark-colored Jeep parked outside Sarge Reilly Field.

Police said they were dispatched around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday to check on a person in the car. They found a 49-year-old man who had died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, authorities said.

Bristol police called the death suspicious Thursday morning.

Police cruisers also parked outside a home on Round Hill Road about half a mile away from the park. Investigators working the case Wednesday night would not comment.
