West Haven police have arrested a man in connection with a shooting in the stairwell of an apartment building on Coleman Road Thursday night.
Police responded to the building at 10 p.m. and found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to the hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Officers arrested 33-year-old Eugene McKnight on Friday morning.
He was charged with assault, home invasion and criminal use of a firearm. He is being held on $500,000 bond.
Police said McKnight lives in the apartment building where the shooting took place.
