Woman Charged in Hit-and-Run that Injured 2 Pedestrians in Hartford

Police have arrested a woman accused of hitting two pedestrians in Hartford while she was under the influence on Monday night.

Tonya Verdejo, 41, of East Hartford, is accused of hitting two pedestrians who were crossing the street in the area of 444 Albany Avenue just after 8 p.m. on Monday and leaving the scene.

Ambulances transported the two pedestrians she is accused of hitting to the hospital. Their injuries are serious, but not life-threatening, according to police.

Police said they found the car Verdejo was driving parked in front of 10-14 Homestead Ave. and she failed several field sobriety tests.

The major crimes division and crime scene division were notified and the shooting task force and traffic division assisted in the investigation and arrest.

Verdejo has been charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence, evading and two counts of second-degree assault with a motor vehicle.

It’s not clear if she has an attorney.
