A man described as having a "pot belly" tried to rob a Citgo station on New Haven Road in Naugatuck and police are looking for him.
Police are looking for a man that they say is responsible for robberies in at least four towns.
A suspect described as having a "pot belly", tried to rob a Citgo station on New Haven Road in Naugatuck around 7:35 p.m. Tuesday, according to police. The suspect bought a drink and then pulled a knife on the clerk, demanding money. The clerk was able to fight off the suspect and no money was taken, police said.
After failing to get cash from the Naugatuck store, the same man apparently robbed the Citgo station on Union City Road in Prospect, according to Naugatuck Police. The man showed a knife and fled with money from the store's register.
In Milford, police said a man fitting the same description robbed a Subway store Oct. 19. The suspect walked into the Subway at 1367 New Haven Avenue and pulled a knife on the clerk. He made off with an undisclosed amount of money. According to Milford Police, the man may be responsible for robberies in Stratford as well.
"It's scary that they can't catch this guy yet," an employee of the Subway in Milford said. "He came in like a normal customer. He stood there for a minute, looked at the menu, he ordered, he was smiling and talking."
Anyone with information on the suspect's identity should call Stratford Police at 203-729-5222 or the Milford Police Department at 203-783-4753.
