Motorcyclist Airlifted to Hospital in Old Lyme Crash

LifeStar airlifted a motorcyclist to the hospital after a crash involving two motorcycles and a car in Old Lyme Sunday afternoon.

A northbound vehicle stopped before turning left into a private drive off of Route 156 (Neck Road) and was making the turn when it appeared safe when two motorcycles were speeding around the corner in the oncoming lane. One of them, Eric J. Koch, 27, of Colchester, couldn't stop in time and struck the right side of the vehicle as it was turning into the driveway and the second motorcycle hit the first one. The crash happened at about 2:30 p.m. in the area of 60 Neck Road.

The two motorcyclists were thrown from their vehicles upon impact. The driver of the car and the second motorcyclists declined treatment.

Koch was airlifted by LifeStar to Yale-New Haven Hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injures.

All three vehicles were towed.

The scene has been cleared.

No charges have been filed at this time, but state police said that any "enforcement action is pending further investigation."
