Police have arrested a man after another man was left with life-threatening injuries following a shooting in New Haven on Tuesday.
Officers said 22-year-old Kuron Jonathan Vega, of New Haven, was arrested after the shooting on Huntington Street in the Newhallville neighborhood.
According to police, a 20-year-old man was standing outside of a home on Huntington Street, between Newhall Street and Shepard Street, when he was shot in the chest around 1:15 p.m. He is still in the hospital, where he is in stable condition, police said Wednesday.
Brittany Tomling was walking her daughter home from school when things took a frightening turn.
“They heard gun shots and when we came around the corner they had a block taped off with a bunch of cops," Tomling said.
Police said investigators stopped a car about a half-mile away near Ogden and Prospect Streets.
NBC Connecticut’s camera captured a car that apparently crashed through a fence and ended up on an athletic field at Albertus Magnus College.

Authorities said Vega was detained and later arrested. He is now facing charges including first degree assault and multiple weapons violations.
Vega is being held on a $750,000 bond and is due in court on Wednesday morning.
