Burglar Hits Three Litchfield Homes

Police are searching for the man who broke into and stole from three Litchfield homes early last month and are asking for the public's help in identifying the culprit.

According to police, a heavyset Hispanic man burglarized three houses during the day on June 2 and stole a number of items.

Security footage from cameras set up at a home on Jefferson Hill Road shows the suspect taking off window screens to get inside.

Dorothy Beckley said the burglar also ripped off her house on Richards Road. He rummaged around the bedroom and got away with jewelry, laptops and other personal affects.

"When I walked in my room and saw my doors open and saw what they grabbed, I was sad, I was upset," Beckley said.

Investigators said the suspect then broke into a home on Bantam Terrace. A teen reportedly showed up in the middle of the burglary and startled the suspect, scaring him off.

"I'm so grateful I wasn't here when someone was in my house, and grateful he didn't hurt that teenager," Beckley said of the incident.

Police said he was driving a light-colored sedan with the front left hubcap missing.

Beckley hopes someone will identify him and help police crack the case.

Anyone with information is urged to call State Police Trooper Holm at 860-626-7904. Calls will remain confidential.
