Meriden Police are investigating a robbery at a Meriden gas station last night and are asking for help from the public to find the robber.
A worker at the Stop & Shop gas station at 580 West Main Street called police at 9 p.m. on Wednesday to report that he had just been robbed, police said.
The employee told police he’d was inside the employee kiosk, where the gas station attendant collects money from customers, when a man in his mid-30s approached the payment window.
The man told the employee that he had a gun in his pocket and ordered him to keep his hands where he could see them and to give him all of the money in the cash drawer, police said.
The employee was caught off guard, but complied, police said, and the robber ran off with the cash.
The robbery was captured on camera, police said, and they have released images in the hopes that someone can identify the man.
Anyone who recognizes him is asked to call Detective Joe Robison of the Meriden Police Department’s Detective Division at (203) 630-6267. All calls will be kept confidential.
The robber did not show a gun, police said.
The employee believed the robber is between 5-feet-10 and 6-feet tall. He has short light brown hair and some facial hair and was wearing an orange shirt.
