Police Seek Man Who Robbed Victim at Knifepoint and Accomplice: New Haven Police

New Haven police are looking for two robbers, including one who stole a phone and money from the victim at knifepoint while his accomplice distracted the victim's friend, police said.

Two masked men confronted the victim and his friend while they were walking toward the back entrance to 197 Ferry Street in New Haven early Saturday morning, police said. One of the men had a long knife and held it to the victim's throat as he demanded he give him his valuables, police said.

Meanwhile, the victim's friend didn't know he was being robbed because the other man distracted him while the crime was being committed, according to police.

The victim handed the armed robber his Samsung Galaxy phone and $150 in cash, police said.

The two robbers fled in a blue VW Jetta or Geo Prism, according to police.

The victim described the man with the knife as about 5-foot-8 and about 145 pounds. He looked like he was between 20 and 28 years old and had a medium complexion, according to the victim. The knife-wielding man also had a goatee and brown shoulder-length hair and was wearing a dark grey hooded sweatshirt and dark pants, police said.

The other man had a light complexion, was slightly shorter and weighs about 150 pounds, police said. His eyes are light-colored and he was dressed in all black.
