Two Taken Into Custody After Bank Robbery

Two people are in custody after a bank robbery and standoff in New Milford.

An armed masked man in a ski suit robbed a bank in New Milford on Tuesday morning.

He was dressed all in white when he robbed the Webster Bank on Main Street just after 8:30 a.m., the County Times reports.

One woman told the County Times that she saw the robber at Bank Street Coffee House before the robbery. He ordered a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich and took time to sit down and eat his breakfast before robbing the bank.

Police searched for the man in the area surrounding the bank, but they believe he hopped on a HART bus traveling south on Route 7 and got off near New Milford Block & Tackle, the News-Times reports.

Police closed Route 7 at Candlewood Lake South in both directions at 11:11 a.m. because of police activity.

Officers were waiting for a warrant that will allow them to enter the house.
