Police Uncover Shoreline Fencing Operation

Truckloads of stolen merchandise were seized Friday.

Branford and East Haven police have uncovered a major fencing operation.

Police seized truckloads of stolen equipment Friday, according to authorities. The items included power and hand tools, commercial lawn and garden mowers, ATVs, snow blowers, power washers and other household appliances.

The investigation has been ongoing for months, according to police.  The operation may include other towns in the area, police said.

"We have been working in partnership with Home Depot and Target to track merchandise that has been stolen from their stores and fenced in a number of illegal operations," said Branford Detective Lt. William Carroll.

Both East Haven and Branford officers have begun cataloging the merchandise with representatives from Home Depot and Target.

There have been no arrests, but police expect to make an arrest soon, according to Carroll.
