Portland police arrested a local man accused of an armed robbery at the Portland Citgo station on Thursday.

John Senesac, 40, of 1503 Portland Colbalt Road, is accused of robbing the gas station at 1633 Portland Colbalt Road at knifepoint just after 4:30 p.m.

After the robbery, the clerk followed the robber from the store and watched him turn onto Brickyard Road, according to police.

The search led police along the Connecticut River and to the Riverside Motel.

Police said they found a knife, the clothing used in the robbery and the stolen cash in Senesac’s apartment.

Officers also identified Senesac through surveillance video, police said.

He was charged with a parole violation, robbery, threatening and larceny.

Senesac was held on $100,000 bond and is due in court on Friday.
