Philly's first casino, SugarHouse means business with their new opening - the slots have arrived.
Connecticut's two casinos recorded increased slot numbers for July. It's the first time both Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun showed increases in slot revenues in the same month in more than two years.
Foxwoods took in $64.1 million in slot earnings in July, up 1.3 percent over July 2009, and the first increase for the casino in more than a year. Despite the good news, Foxwoods is still concerned with the overall economic picture. "While we're pleased with July's results, it appears the current economic conditions will continue to pose challenges to our business over the coming months," Mashantucket Pequot Gaming Enterprises President William Sherlock said.
Mohegan Sun saw $70.3 million in slot revenues for July, ups slightly from $69.1 million in 2009. The casino's handle -- the total amount of money actually put into the slot machines each month -- rose to $892 million in July, from $826 million a year ago.
Mohegan Sun's slot revenues ticked up in June as well, the first increase for the casino in two years.
