Power Company Exec Botches Storm Name

Calls it "Eileen" in a company video on YouTube.

Both Connecticut Light & Power and United Illuminating have taken a beating over the past few days, as hundreds of thousands remain without power now five days after Tropical Storm Irene.

Much of the criticism, has been about the lack of communication coming from the companies about when people can expect to see the lights come back on.

UI CEO Jim Torgerson has taken to posting videos on YouTube, updating customers on his company's progress on restoring power.

However, what is bound to make customers more angry, is that Torgerson didn't even get the name of the storm right in his video posted on Sept. 1.

"I want to give Thursday's update, and good afternoon everybody, on the Eileen hurricane," Torgerson said in his video. Of course, the storm was named "Irene", as the thousands and thousands affected in Connecticut will never forget.

Torgerson did properly call it "Irene" in a video posted Wednesday, but changed the storm's name to Eileen on Thursday.

More than 33,000 United Illuminating customers were still in the dark Thursday afternoon, but the company expected to have that number down to 10,000 by the weekend.
