Power is out for 10,000 people in Connecticut.

About 10,000 people in Waterbury and Watertown without power and several Waterbury schools are closing early.

Naugatuck Valley Community College is closed, Holy Cross High is dismissing early. Kennedy High School will be dismissed at noon and West Side Middle School is dismissing at 1 p.m.

Bunker Hill Elementary and Carrington Elementary Schools are without power but are not being dismissed. Students will remain in school for the remainder of the day.

As of noon, Connecticut Light & Power reports more than 8,000 customers are without power in Waterbury and more than 2,000 without power in Watertown.

A message has been left with CL&P to determine what caused the outage.
