Pratt & Whitney to Lay Off 80 Workers

Pratt & Whitney is cutting around 80 jobs in Connecticut.

“Pratt & Whitney will be reducing its Connecticut hourly workforce by approximately 80 employees as a direct result of the completion of the F119 engine program combined with lower customer demand for commercial engine overhaul and repair work throughout the company’s global repair network,” the company said in a statement.

The statement from Pratt & Whitney said the company provided voluntary separation offers. Some employees in East Hartford and Middletown accepted them, Pratt officials said. All of the involuntary layoffs are in East Hartford.
