A local radio station is gave back last week by hosting a special three-day broadcast to raise money – and awareness – for the Connecticut Children's Medical Center in Hartford.
The 11th annual Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Radiothon event, hosted by 102.9 DRC-FM, raised more than $200,000 last week to reach its overall goal of $2 million since Radiothon's inception.
The event was held Thursday through Saturday and was broadcast live from the café at the Connecticut Children's Medical Center.
The event featured success stories from patients and their families.
Over the past 10 years, Radiothon raised $1.7 million for Connecticut Children's. This year's event brought the total to more than $2.138 million, according to a spokesperson for the hospital.
All money raised goes directly to the hospital.
Last year, Radiothon raised more than $232,000.
