The cremated remains of a New Haven man mysteriously showed up at a U.S. Marine Corps Recruiting Center in Keene, New Hampshire.

Staff members arrived at work Monday morning and found the remains in a tin can, along with a folded, framed American flag and a silver mug, Keene police Lt. Jay U. Duguay told the Keene Sentinel. The tin had the name and address of John E. Mastyk Jr. of New Haven.

Mastyk’s ashes, the flag and the mug will be kept at the Keene Police Department’s impound yard until investigators are able to track down his next of kin.
