Report: Aaron Hernandez's Jail Phone Calls Were Tapped

The calls were tapped by an "unknown person" and neither Hernandez's lawyers nor prosecutors were ever told

Former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez's jailhouse phone calls were tapped while he sat in prison awaiting his murder trial.

The Boston Herald reports that the calls were tapped by an "unknown person" and neither Hernandez's lawyers nor prosecutors were ever told about it. His calls were the only ones accessed.

The security issue has apparently since been resolved, and the Suffolk County House of Correction continues to use the same telephone company.

Hernandez was convicted of first-degree murder in the 2013 killing of Odin Lloyd. He is scheduled to go to trial next year in connection with a separate double-murder in Boston's South End.
