Republican Governor Candidates to Debate Today

Most of the Republican candidates hoping to defeat Democratic Gov. Dannel Malloy in November will face off in their first debate today.

Five of the six candidates are scheduled to appear today at the Mark Twain House this afternoon.

Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton, Senate Minority Leader John McKinney, Shelton Mayor Mark Lauretti, Avon attorney Martha Dean and former West Hartford Town Councilman Joe Visconti are expected to attend.

Greenwich businessman Tom Foley, the 2010 Republican nominee for the seat, is not expected to participate.

The event is sold out, according to the Mark Twain House Web site. http://www.marktwainhouse.org/visitor/events_programs.php
