Rhode Island Burglary Suspects May be Linked to Connecticut Break-Ins: Police

East Providence, R.I. police are investigating the possibility that two men arrested after a chase in East Providence could be tied to several break-ins around Rhode Island and Connecticut.

Maurice Youmans, 38 and Lyle Solsbury, 40, were arrested Wednesday afternoon.

The suspects are accused of breaking into a home Wednesday afternoon. Lt. Tom Rush said a Church Street homeowner alerted police around 12:28 p.m. Wednesday, after seeing the suspects on a home surveillance camera linked to a phone app.

Police said they spotted the suspects in a vehicle nearby. The suspects fled and led police on a chase through several side and main streets.

Police said the pursuit was broken off when the suspects' vehicle went into Providence, but officers spotted the vehicle when it returned to East Providence and finally were able to capture the men near the Henderson Bridge. A stun gun was used on one of the suspects.

Police said the vehicle had a stolen Massachusetts license plate covering up a Connecticut plate.

Newtown, Conn. police said Solsbury is a suspect in a residential burglary in their town. He was arrested on July 29 and released on a $50,000 bond, police said.
