Bank Says It's Out of Cash, Robber Leaves

A Darien bank found a way to avert robbery -- say you have none of these.

A would-be robber with bad timing ended up leaving a Darien bank empty handed because the teller had already cleaned out their drawers for the night.

A guy wearing sunglasses, a fake beard and a baseball cap walked into a Chase Bank on the Post Road about 6:15 p.m. and demanded money from a teller.

But, the bank was about to close and the tellers had emptied their cash drawers because the bank was about to close for business for the day and no money was available.

So, the would-be robber left the bank.

The guy never showed a weapon and didn't claim to have one. Nobody saw a getaway car.
