Police in New Haven are looking for the man who robbed the Metro PCS Store on Saturday and fired a shot into a display case.

Police responded to the Metro PCS Store at 401 Howard Ave. just after noon on Saturday and said the clerk was noticeably shaken and crying as she described the robbery.

The man pulled a handgun that had been tucked into waistband and demanded that the employee fill a duffle bag with cash and hand over her cell phone, she told police.

The woman gave up her cell phone and began moving toward the rest room, she told police.

When the robber saw her, he said "I thought you were smarter than that," fired a shot into the display case and fled, police said.

Police are looking for a man who is about 6-feet tall and has a muscular and stocky build.
