A small shredding company warehouse in East Windsor partially collapsed on Friday morning.
Infoshred employees started noticing problems with the roof on Tuesday when they heard creaking noises coming from the roof and beams began to bow, the owner said.
A structural engineer deemed the building unsafe.
The building, where the company stores and shreds documents for people and companies, was evacuated and cranes were brought.
On Tuesday, efforts began to clear the roof of snow. Crews took a break around midnight. At 3:30 a.m. on Friday, part of the roof over the records storage facility collapsed.
Jack DiPiazza, of Infoshred, said about 40 clients store documents here at the site. He alerted them and said the building will remain secure.
Police and fire crews are waiting for a structural engineer to arrive to determine the next step.

The document destruction portion of the business was unaffected and is operating, a company official said. Trucks went out on Friday morning on their regular schedule and the business expects no interruption in these services.
All documents in the records’ storage part of the building are safe and secure, company officials said. A 24-hour armed guard service has been hired to protect them and the company is making arrangements for the documents to be move to a secured facility.
“We have extensive systems in place to guard the security and safety of those records, including 24 hour monitoring of the area. But this year’s unprecedented weather has posed hazards none of us could have anticipated. We are well aware of the importance of the records entrusted to us. We have already secured another location for those records. Once emergency personnel allow us, we will evacuate them to that location,” DiPiazza said.
