New Haven Road, Route 63, has reopened 24 hours after a crash closed the street in the area of Hazel Avenue in Naugatuck.

Naugatuck police said a car hit a utility pole and fled. Damage to the pole prompted police to close down Route 63 for a full day for until utility crews to remove the hazard.

Police said Tyron Hammond, 30, of Naugatuck, was the driver. He was charged with evading responsibility, operation of a motor vehicle without a license and traveling too fast for conditions.
