Former Gov. John Rowland has apologized to Gov. Dannel Malloy for calling the current governor a "pathological liar."
Rowland made the comment during an interview with the American Spectator this week and the criticism drew a quick response from the Malloy administration.
"I think it's ridiculous they've given him this platform," Roy Occhiogrosso, the governor's senior adviser told the CTMirror. "It's more ridiculous people listen to what he says. I think he's a fraud."
In the interview, Rowland expressed anger at the fact that Malloy had pointed the finger at him for the current problems with the state labor unions. Rowland signed a 20-year agreement with the unions not set to expire until 2017.
"He's trying to make me the scapegoat, but he actually wanted to extend the deal another five years through 2022," Rowland told the American Spectator.
Rowland, who now hosts an afternoon radio program on WTIC-AM NEWS Talk 1080, called Malloy on Thursday morning to apologize for the "pathological liar" remark.
The former governor was not on the air on Thursday, but his radio partner, Will Marotti, said Rowland had apologized. Rowland had a scheduled day off, according to WTIC-AM Program Director Jenneen Lee.
