As the weather continues its chilly slide toward winter, travelers in Connecticut will soon have new options to get away to warmer destinations.

Two airlines are adding flights from Bradley International Airport to Southern hot spots, airport officials said.

Delta will bring back its Bradley to Cancun, Mexico route in November, according to airport director of marketing and route development Kiran Jain. The airline is also adding flights to Ft. Lauderdale and Ft. Myers.

Jain says Southwest Airlines will increase service to Tampa and Baltimore in the spring.

According to a release from Bradley, high-ranking state and airline officials will make an announcement about what they are calling major new long-haul service.  What they won't say is if that announcement is about these two airlines or some other new overseas flights.

Northwest Airlines ended its service to Amsterdam last fall. It had been Bradley's only international flight.
