Simsbury school officials are warning parents of a suspicious incident that occurred Thursday.

Two 11-year-old girls were approached by a man in a car along Old Meadow Plain Road around 7:45 p.m., according to police. The man driving the car asked the girls if they wanted a ride. The two girls ran home, and police were called, according to authorities.

The driver was described as a 40-year-old man with short blond hair. There was a second person in the car, described as a teenager with short, curly blond hair. The pair were in a light blue Ford Escape.

Officials from Simsbury public schools used a reverse calling system to notify families of the incident.

Anyone who may have seen a vehicle matching the description of the SUV involved in the incident is asked to call Detective Scott Sagan at 860-658-3130 or Detective Sgt. Tom Sheehan at 860-658-3140.
