Minor Injuries Reported After Plainfield Bus Crash

Several people, including four children, were taken to the hospital after a school bus was involved in a crash on Route 14A in Plainfield Tuesday morning.

Plainfield police said that the crash happened around 9 a.m. when a Ford Fusion traveling on Route 14A attempted to turn onto Gallup Street and was hit by a Lexus LS that was traveling on the opposite side of the road. The force of the crash pushed the Ford into a Dattco school bus that was stopped at a stop sign at the end of Gallup Street.

Four students ranging in age from 5 to 9 were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the Ford and two passengers were also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The Ford driver was cited for failure to grant right of way at an intersection.

The crash remains under investigation.

Editor’s Note: Dispatchers initially said seven students were taken to the hospital, but it was actually four students and three occupants of a car. The story above has been updated to reflect that.
