A middle school and high school that serves three Connecticut towns barely survived a vote Thursday.
Parish Hill schools in Chaplin host students from Chaplin, Hampton and Scotland.
6,000 people live in the three towns combined. Only about 300 students attend Parish Hill.
Voters in those towns cast ballots on a referendum Thursday to decide whether or not to dissolve the Regional School District 11, who runs the Parish Hill schools.
"I think they're acknowledging in the past two years," said Kenneth Henrici, the district's interim superintendent. "We've made an awful lot of progress in the district."
A majority vote in each of the three towns was needed to dissolve the school district.
Hampton and Scotland voted to dissolve the district, but Chaplin voters saved the school.
