Four siblings who attend the L.W. Batchelder Elementary School in Hartford were injured when their school van was rear-ended on Interstate 84 Eastbound right before exit 49 in Hartford around 3:30 p.m. on Friday.

The children are in Kindergarten, first, second and third grade, according to David Medina, of the Hartford School Department.

They were taken to Connecticut Children's Medical Center.

Right after the crash, state troopers said students were complaining of injuries and ambulances had been sent to the scene.

Their mother, the principal and someone from the school district were at the hospital with them.

All four children were released from the hospital after their evaluations, said Medina.
