Missing Swimmer in East Haven Found

Firefighters and the Coast Guard launched a search Wednesday night for a missing swimmer in East Haven.

A swimmer who disappeared in the Long Island Sound near East Haven was found alive and in good condition, according to officials.

Firefighters and the Coast Guard spent most of the night searching the dark water at Town Beach in East Haven on Wednesday night.

Crews sent out boats to search the water off Cosey Beach Ave., according to police.

Officials said the 27-year-old woman went in the water around 8:30 p.m. and was missing.

The woman's husband said she went for a swim and she was gone when he turned around.

One of the crews out in a boat spotted the woman 20 yards off the shore and pulled her from the water.

The woman was taken to the hospital to get checked out as a precaution.
