Secretary Accused of Stealing $330K from Hamden Company

A secretary who handled payroll is accused of stealing more than $300,000 from a Hamden company.

Patricia Nazario, 55, of New Haven, is accused of paying herself an extra $206,572 from 2004 to 2010 and getting an unauthorized bank debit card and making $40,000 worth of purchases.

She is also accused of obtaining more than $25,000 in illegal debits from the company’s checking account.

Her son, William Guarino, is also accused of receiving goods and services regarding these unauthorized transactions.

He lives with his mother, according to police.

Hamden police started investigating at Custom & Precision Products, 2893 State St., on Sept. 10, 2010 after getting a fraud complaint. After a four-month investigation, police determined that Nazario had embezzled for years, police said.

Police said Nazario is linked to the disappearance of $330,197.00.

Nazario and Guarino turned themselves in at police headquarters on Tuesday. They were released after posting a $75,000 bond and are scheduled to appear in court in Meriden on Feb. 8.
