Serial Robbery Suspect Arrested

Police have made an arrest in the investigation into several gas station convenience stores robberies in Bridgeport as well as Stratford.

Bridgeport police have identified Kashawn Brown, 23, as the suspected "black jacket bandit."

Brown, who has a criminal past that includes prior arrests in Stamford, confessed to several robberies and is a suspect in at least 12 in Bridgeport, Stratford, Shelton and Trumbull during the past month, police said.

Additional charges are expected.

He has been charged with a robbery on Nov. 15 at the H&A Convenience at the intersection of Fairfield and Orland. When police took him into custody at Grant and Seaview, they found a 9mm handgun, police said.

Brown escaped from police custody and was captured after a foot chase and search not far from police headquarters.

Police have also arrested Brandon Davis, 22.

While police were apprehending Brown, officers were told to look for Davis, who is on probation and was walking with Brown. When police found him, he had a silver handgun, police said.

Brown was charged with first-degree robbery, criminal possession of a firearm and escape from custody. Bond was set at $425,000.

Davis was charged with criminal possession of a firearm. Bond was set at $250,000.
